Auctioneer Warwick Grimmer ensures guests dig deep to bid for the art work and wine collection displayed by models from Ali McD Agency at the the "Romancing the Regent" wine auction gala fundraising event held at the Regent Theatre this evening.
Around 170 guests bid on a variety of items - from a bottle of wine from famous French estate Chateau Lafite Rothschild, to a package that included a weekend escape with exclusive use of a luxury BMW 5 Series car courtesy of Cooke Howlison BMW motor vehicle dealership. The generosity of local businesses and individuals from throughout the Otago region ensured the success of the final major fundraising event for the theatre's redevelopment.

Luxury cars, valuable French wines - as well as equally sought after New Zealand wines and art works were just some of the items that went under the hammer in a live auction and silent auction.
Otago Polytechnic staff from Technique Restaurant (left) made sure guests were well fed with a variety of tasty treats after the formal speeches.
Valarie Parkinson, from the organising committee, thanks all who contributed to the success of the evening including her fellow committee members and the many other volunteers who contributed to the cause.
Guests enjoy a drink and chat before the auctions get underway. Models from Ali McD Agency (top right) helped throughout the evening ushering guests and displaying items as they were auctioned during the live auctions.
