City Events - Dunedin Rhododendron Festival 2010
  Dunedin. 17-25 October 2010

Special guest for the 2010 Dunedin Rhododendron Festival, Tony Murrell, well known for his popular television appearances in TV3's "Ground Force" and TV One's "Mucking In", shared some stories and gardening tips from his 25 years plus of gardening experience at the Festival Opening at Glenfalloch Woodland Garden this afternoon.

The Dunedin Rhododendron Festival has become a hugely popular annual event for the city with a jam packed programme of garden tours, guest speakers, floral workshops and a host of other events and activities that cater for all ages and tastes.

Scroll down to check out some photos from just some of the events on the 2010 Festival programme....

The opening day of the Festival began with a Rhododendron Day at the Dunedin Botanic Gardens. The day featured a very popular plant sale, a Dell Discovery Trail with adult sized ladybirds to provide clues and some surprise treats, tours of the Rhododendron Dell plus entertainment scattered about the Dell area of the gardens including local musicians, singing groups and martial arts demonstrations.

From 12noon until 5pm on the opening day Larnach Castle played hosts with sampling of some of Otago's finest wines and tastings of delicious locally produced food. Inside the beautiful Ball Room area visitors could relax over lunch and wine and listen to entertainment from local high school Bayfield High School band.
