City Events - Otago Festival of the Arts
  Dunedin, 8-17 October 2010

The 2010 Otago Festival of the Arts got off to a thunderous start last night as the high energy, high volume sounds of The Dohl Foundation rocked the Regent Theatre with the distinctive sounds of their dohl drums pounding to the rhythms of electronic bhangra-infused funk.

Right from the moment dhol master Johnny Kalsi first touched his drum the Regent shuddered as the volume reached ear-piercing levels with the ten piece band in full swing on stage giving it everything they had. The audience lapped it up and the seats in the stalls emptied as people rushed to the front of the stage where they stayed for the whole evening dancing to the hypnotic drum rhythms.
